The Moody Coast Collection

The Moody Coast Collection

Sometimes inspiration strikes and I have to follow it. Ok, let's be real - I am impulsive and absolutely need to follow my inspiration, it's what makes art fun for me. The Moody Coast Collection is a funny mix of two things I was inspired by this month -- the coast, of course, and mood stones.

Mood Rings

I went on a girls trip in July, and a friend of mine was wearing a mood ring. It reminded me of my childhood, and just seemed so fun. Of course, I had to look into getting some mood stones for myself. I was lucky enough to find some vintage mood stones on Etsy (I cringed when I read vintage though, lol).

Originally, I was going to save the mood rings for a fall collection, since they seem to fit in well for spooky season, but they kept creeping in at the back of my mind so I made some designs and made them happen. Once they were finished, I realized they really did fit in with this collection - they are varying levels of blue.

Ocean Charms

I've also been really inspired lately by beaded necklaces, so I took a trip to my local(ish) bead store and had a blast (read: spent too much money). There were beads of all shapes and sizes, and I was like a kid in a candy store. Learning how to make beaded necklaces was a really fun change of pace, too.

I also handmade charms from ocean treasures I have found, including two shells, a barnacle, and a third shell that had a barnacle attached to it. It was so fun for me to be able to combine my own handmade charms with some colorful beads to spice up the offerings a bit!

I hope you love this collection - it was a labor of love and deep inspiration from me! <3
