Hellllloooooooo. If you read my January New Years Reflections blog, you know that I'd been struggling with creativity with everything going on in the world + the dramatic increases in sterling silver prices.
One thing that really inspired me to get a move on in my studio was my annual Montana Agate collection. This is the third year that I've made it, and I've always released it in February. It's one of my favorite traditions in this small business, and I truly believe that these stones paired with silver bring the sunshine and whimsy that we all are needing more of these days.
My favorite thing about this stone is that it drastically changes (in the best way) in all different kinds of lighting. Natural sunlight, especially, brings out the glowiest, warmest colors - like a hug from your jewelry. One thing that is important for you to know is that all of my Montana agates are sourced from Sally of Sal Digs. They are responsibly mined in Montana and also cut there before being sent out to me, which I think is pretty special. Sally is incredibly passionate about all things rocks, which is another reason I love supporting her small business!
Given the fluctuating silver prices, I tried to focus on 'simpler' pieces that used less silver - but I did have to throw in a couple of multi-stone pieces for fun. I've been thinking deeply about the kind of jewelry that I want to create, and I'm planning some new stone setting skills that I'd like to learn in the near future. Stay tuned! Four of the rings in the collection have flush-set cubic zirconia, which is a great compliment to the Montana agates, in my opinion.Â
Hope you love this collection, and thanks - as always - for being here!
