How's it going?

How's it going?

Hey there, how's it going?

If you feel anything like me and many of my friends, the world has felt incredibly heavy lately. I'm devastated by the news each and every day, and I don't really know what to do about it, because it feels like everything is such a small dent into such big problems.

A few things I have been doing are talking about it, going on nature walks/hikes, sticking my head in the sand when it all becomes too much, and donating to causes that resonate with my values. I just wrapped up a raffle with Kim of Alpine Earthworks Pottery (check her out if you haven't already!) that donated funds to the ACLU. I love using my artists voice for activism!

One other thing that I've been doing is limiting my social media use. I have a realllyyy hard time doing that just on my own, the second I pull out my phone I'll find I just impulsively open Instagram or other social media apps. So when I heard about the Brick, I was really intrigued. I finally decided to go for it and buy one in mid-September, and I've been loving it. How it works is you set what apps you don't want to have access to when your phone is 'bricked', and you cannot access them again until you tap your phone to the physical device to 'un-brick' it. I've found this helpful for me personally because having to do the physical act of going to my Brick and tapping my phone makes me think twice about doing it. It also gives you reports of how long your phone was Bricked, which makes it into a bit of a competition with myself to keep it that way for longer. Note: I'm not sponsored, and this isn't an affiliate link. I just really love this thing!

I hope you're doing well and finding ways to find joy; but if you're needing some extra time to decompress, know that you're not alone.
