Emeline Studios x Solar Wilds
I was recently given an opportunity to collaborate with an artist, which blew my mind. I know, I know - I am an artist. But this particular artist went to art school and has been in the art world as a career for quite some time.
Emeline of Emeline Studios is a painter and designer who works primarily with acrylic on canvas. We grabbed lunch together a few months ago with a mutual friend, and little did we know that we were both thinking the same thing - we should do a collaboration. When Emeline voiced this, I was ecstatic and immediately my wheels started turning. I had just taken a class where I learned how to do lost wax casting, which seemed like the perfect way to blend our two art forms.
We very quickly got to work, designing three rings: two signet-style chunky rings and one stacker ring. What I think amazed both of us, was how well our respective skillsets complimented and built upon each others. Where Emeline's strengths included designing and carving the flowers, photographing the rings and editing the photos; mine included carving and shaping the waxes, building a relationship with the caster, and finishing the metal rings.
It was the absolute best experience working with another creative, learning together, and bouncing ideas off of each other. If you're a fellow creative and ever have thought about collaborating with someone else, I'd highly recommend doing it.
Our small handmade jewelry collection is available now, please check it out! More to come in the future.
