Embracing the Granola Girl Aesthetic: Discover Whimsical, Ethical, Handmade Jewelry

I have a background in public health and strongly believe in ethical, sustainably sourced businesses. Now - I’m certainly not perfect and shop for plenty of things from a certain online, fast delivery service. However, whenever I’m able to I try to be environmentally conscious. I thrift many of my clothes, try to think through my purchases with as little impulse-buying as possible, and re-home as many things as I can on my local buy-nothing group when I no longer need them. I like to think that the people who would love the aesthetic of my handmade jewelry have similar values to mine, and have a growing appreciation for products that not only align with your personal style and ways of self-expression but also are sustainable and ethically made. I am proud to be creating whimsical, nature-inspired pieces that speak to the heart of the granola girl aesthetic and use ethically sourced stones and sustainable shipping methods.

What is a Granola Girl?

I think of a granola girl* as someone who cherishes simplicity, nature, and has a somewhat eco-friendly lifestyle. This is the person who would choose to go on vacation to a national park over an all-inclusive resort. The one who hikes for the views, marvels at all the tiny ferns and rustling pines, and loves listening to the sounds of the ocean waves. Their friends would describe them as laid back, earthy, and outdoorsy. They like to hike and camp but still look cute - crunchy chic.

*Note that while I reference granola girl, I think that anyone with any gender identity can wear my jewelry! If you like my style, it’s made for you.

Ethically Sourced, Sustainably Made

With so many mass-produced items these days, I like to think Solar Wilds jewelry stands apart because it is handmade and designed by me. Most pieces are a 1 of 1, with designs in the stones that you’ll never find an exact replica of.

I am also committed to buying all of my stones from independent or small business lapidary artists. These stones pass through very few hands before they get to me, and are ethically sourced. I’ve become friends with many of the lapidary artists I source from. Additionally, my packing materials are recycled and eco-friendly, sourced from a company called EcoEnclose. Every piece of jewelry is handcrafted with care by me, ensuring not only quality but also that each item is unique.

Why Granola Girls Love Our Jewelry

1. Nature-inspired designs: All of the stones that I use remind me of different pieces of nature. Many of them have blue and green tones in them, and remind me of forests and bodies of water. My jewelry is perfect for those who feel a deep connection to the environment.

2. Sustainable Fashion: By choosing my jewelry, you’re supporting a business that aligns with your values. Nothing is mass-produced, everything is intentionally made.

3. Unique Style: Nearly all of my designs are one-of-a-kind, just like the people who wear them. I strongly believe my jewelry (and all jewelry) can be worn with any outfit, whether dressing up for a night out or heading into the mountains.

4. Handmade with Care: There's something special about wearing a piece of jewelry that has been handcrafted with intention, love, and care. It’s a tangible reminder of the artistry and dedication that goes into every piece.
